Songs of Christmas: 'Christmas in L.A.'

December 13, 2013 - Andy Gray
While some of the “Songs of Christmas” picks have been oldies, today is brand new release by The Killers, who put out an original Christmas song every year with the proceeds going to the fight against AIDS worldwide.

This year’s song, “Christmas in L.A.,” is one of its better ones, written from the prospective of a struggling actor pondering one more holiday in Hollywood. Of course, I may be biased. Joining The Killers on the song is Dawes, one of my current favorite bands. The song also includes a reference to Warren Zevon’s “Carmelita,” the song my dog is named after. So, The Killers got my $1.29 for a digital download for this one.

The song also has a great video with Owen Wilson playing the actor and Harry Dean Stanton as … Harry Dean Stanton. Watch and enjoy.
