Lunar module site receives a facelift
WARREN — The historic site to honor astronaut Neil Armstrong has had recent additions, including informational plaques telling the history of space exploration. The Neil Armstrong Lunar Module site is located off Parkman Road and honors Armstrong, who lived in the area as a youngster. Pete Perich, project coordinator, said a bronze plaque will educate those visiting the site. ‘‘We feel that all the hard work we put into the project needs attention. We want to educate people on how Neil at 6 years old lived here and later saw his dream,’’ Perich said. Perich said he took that dream idea and put it into one of the bronze markers with the help of Dan Mathey, a member of the module construction team, and members of the board of directors. ‘‘Kids need a goal, besides the video games. LeBron James had his dream and look where he is today,’’ Perich said.
