YSU legend dies at age 93
YOUNGSTOWN — Something is to be said when Youngstown State University makes a bobblehead for someone before they make one for former football coach Jim Tressel. It was no surprise that it was Dom Rosselli, who is YSU’s winningest coach in both men’s basketball and baseball. He was honored for his duties at halftime of a football game last year when bobbleheads were passed out to the fans. Rosselli, who passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday, won’t only be remembered for the fact that he coached three different sports and accumulated more than 1,000 victories at YSU. The lasting memories for former YSU players such as Bob Patton Sr., who played basketball for the Penguins, will be the countless relationships he built with his players. “I remember years after I played for him, he came to a game at Liberty to watch my son, Bobby, play,” said Bob Patton Sr., who led the Leopards to two state finals appearances during his time as basketball coach.
