CHESNIC Area residents can take comfort in knowing that even despite recent times of financial restraints, representatives of the Mahoning Valley and neighboring Geauga County health facilities and hospitals report that the changes they have undergone in the last several years have strengthened the quality of healthcare available to the residents of the region. “Certainly, the biggest change is that we opened the area’s first new acute care inpatient hospital in nearly 50 years,” said Tina Creighton, public relations representative for Humility of Mary Health Partners. On Aug. 1, 2007, HMHP opened its new $83 million St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, constructed around an existing diagnostic and emergency center on Market Street in Boardman Township. to provide more than 300,000 square feet of outpatient and inpatient healthcare services, which includes 128 hospital beds.
