No great communication in 2008 election
At the time of my deadline, the true fate of the infamous 2008 vice presidential debacle, er, debate was still undetermined. Some thought Gov. Sarah Palin took the night, redeeming herself after the tragic interview she gave to CBS news anchor Katie Couric last week, while others felt Sen. Joe Biden finally removed his size 13 loafer from his choppers and got the win. Either way, communication has taken the center stage in this historic election season. Indeed, as a words girl, I’m thrilled to see that the American public is so very interested in the oration of the two candidates up for the job of the leader of the free world. Unfortunately, both of those gentlemen and their right hand persons are slicing so many holes in the English language that it’s starting to look like a chain-link fence. I mean, I’ve heard more half-truths and twisted phrases in the past several months than I think I have in the balance of the rest of my 40 years on earth.
