The point should be that we do not need mail 6 days a week, not changing the healthcare funding. Cutting Wednesday down the road should also be done. In 30 years mail once a week should be enough. I am in favor of anything that eliminates public sector jobs that can be done by the private sector.

If Congress had not mandated that the USPS pre-fund the cost of health care 70 years in advance, the USPS would be making money.
The financial woes of the USPS are usually laid squarely on the shoulder of management. That's not the case. The problems come from Congress telling the USPS what to do and how to do it, and then using it as a cash cow.
This was expected... Now congress needs to put a stop to the $5.5 billion annually that they re forcing the post office to set aside for future health care, that was passed in 2006... Without that, the post office is in the green.
