HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. - The Youngstown State men's golf team had the second-best round on Sunday at the Horizon League Championships. YSU carded a 300, but still finished eighth in the team standings. YSU's 300 on the final day gave it a three-day total of 929. The Penguins were just one shot back of Valparaiso for seventh, were two behind Butler for sixth and five back of Wright State for fifth place. Loyola won the event with a 909 by two shots over Green Bay. Cleveland State was third and Detroit was fourth. The Raiders' 299 was the best round on the tournaments final day. The top finisher for the Penguins was Anthony Conn who tied for 11th place.
YSU?WOMEN:?The YSU?women's golf team had two golfers place in the top seven at the Horizon League Championships which concluded on Sunday at the Mission Inn Resort. Freshman Allison Mitzel finished fourth in her first Horizon League Championships appearance while junior Sarah Heimlich placed seventh. The Penguins placed fifth with a three-round score of 1,024 with rounds of 350, 339 and 335. Butler (984) won the event.
