Police investigate Warren shootings as retaliation

WARREN - The mother of a man cleared of murder charges in a January fatal shooting of a Saratoga Avenue S.W. man has been shot at twice in the last week.

Pamela Warfield's southwest side Warren home was fired at twice in the last two weeks, including Saturday when three bullets ripped through her home.

Detectives are investigating the shootings as possible retaliation against Warfield's son, Daron, who was charged with the Jan. 12 murder Domin'que Hugley, 21. A Trumbull County grand jury cleared Daron Warfield, 23, of Austin Avenue, in March.

Pamela Warfield told police she was at her computer at about 5 a.m. Saturday when someone fired at least six shots from a silver car, reports state.

Three bullets ripped through her home, two through the front door. Three other bullets struck the backside of her car parked in the driveway.

Warfield's home was shot up for the first time at about 1 a.m. June 19. Officers went to the home and found three shell casings and four live rounds in the road directly in front of her home.

Police reports state she was being "targeted by a rival."

Pamela Warfield declined to comment for the story. A woman who answered the phone at Warfield's home Monday said she believed the shootings were in retaliation to Hugley's murder and she was fearful.

Detectives who investigated the Hugley murder now are investigating the shootings and county prosecutors have been alerted.

"Naturally we're concerned with it," police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Cole said Tuesday.

A police report states that the murder was a result of suspected gang activity, a suspicion that reports and police would not elaborate on. Daron Warfield was held in a protective custody cell in the Trumbull County Jail after he was charged with murder.
