Niles man charged with trafficking from home

NILES - Stephen M. Fauvie, 51, 234 Ann St., entered no plea Tuesday in Niles Municipal Court on three counts of trafficking.

Fauvie was arrested at 6:05 p.m. Monday after the Niles narcotics unit bought heroin from the home, according to the police department.

Bond was set at $7,500 and he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 19.

Later Tuesday, Niles police arrested two others in the case.

Antuan S. Gardner, 25, 124 Hyde Ave., Niles, was charged with two counts of trafficking in heroin. Andrew M. Colbert, 35, Edgehill Ave. S.E., was charged with trafficking in Heroin within 1,000 feet of a school.

Fire officials probe vacant house blaze

WARREN - City fire crews extinguished a small fire at a vacant house in the 200 block of Austin Avenue N.W. on Tuesday.

Fire officials said the fire, which broke out just after 7 p.m., was contained to one bedroom. It was out within minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.

Democratic party to hold annual picnic

BAZETTA - The annual Democratic picnic will be held Thursday at Maffit's Meadows on Bazetta Road.

The event will begin at 4:30 p.m., with food served at 5:30. The cost is $20 at the door. There will be door prizes and gift basket giveaways, along with various speakers.
