ANDOVER - Badger boys golf team might of lost Wednesday's Northeastern Athletic Conference tri-match with Maplewood to Pymatuning Valley, but the Braves captured a share of the NAC title.
PV (14-2, 11-1 NAC) shot 162 at the par 35 Andover Golf Course, while Badger (17-2, 13-1) shot 170. Maplewood (7-5, 7-5) shot 184.
Badger was led by Matt Kraml and Justin Polk, who both shot 40.
Kraml had a 42.66 average heading into Wednesday's match, while Justin had a NAC low 40.5.
"Matt Kraml is probably our team MVP, but it looks like Justin is going to have the best score in the NAC," Badger coach Michael Cappuzzello said.
Jake DeScenna and Travis Allen each shot 45 for Badger.
"It's crazy. We have a good 1-2 punch," Cappuzzello said. "Everyone else gets around that 45 or lower mark. That's what helps us so much."
PV still has to play Bristol and Lordstown to wrap up its NAC season. PV was led by Warren Kozlowski shooting a 36 and Tim Baker carding a 39.
"They won't fall," Cappuzzello said. "It's going to be a tie. It's going to be them and us."
Both PV and Badger are now focusing on sectionals later this month.
PV heads to Candywood Golf Club for their Division II sectional, while Badger's Division III sectional is at Riverview Golf Course.
"They have Girard in theirs," Cappuzzello said. "We have to worry about JFK. Only two (teams and individuals) get out in our sectional and JFK is always tough. It's always who gets the next slot."
