HIRAM - Safety officials have completed their sweep of the Hiram College campus and say it is now safe to return following a bomb threat earlier today, according to the college's website.

The school's website said a threat was received this afternoon and the campus was evacuated while it was being checked out to ensure student and staff safety.

The school reported that officials from Portage County, Garrettsville police, Mantua police, as well as Hiram Village Police and Fire and the FBI were on scene and checking campus buildings.

Counseling will be available from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for those wanting to talk with someone, according to the school.

Earlier today, Texas University and North Dakota State University were also evacuated after threats were received there.
