Alice V. Koncsol 1932-2012

McDONALD - Alice Virginia Koncsol, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 6:45 a.m. Monday morning, Oct. 8, 2012, at Omni Manor Assisted Living Center in Youngstown following a short illness.

She was born April 11, 1932, in Evansville, the daughter of James F. and Alice R. White Shaffer, and lived in this area her entire life.

A retired nursing assistant from Trumbull Memorial Hospital, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where she was a faithful volunteer in the kitchen, and enjoyed collecting angels and doing word-search puzzles.

Alice is survived by four sons, Steven J. (Tina) Koncsol of Warren, Terry L. (Vicki) Koncsol of Girard, Dwane E. Koncsol of Niles and Ken Koncsol of Niles; three daughters, Marsha (David) Schwartz of New Philadelphia, Christine (Pat) Stevens of Columbus and Geri (Mark) Loomis of McDonald; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; one brother, James Shaffer of Winterville, N.C.; and two sisters, Janet Dearborn of Warren and Patricia Shufflebotham of Peoria, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Koncsol, whom she married Feb. 12, 1949, and who died Nov. 15, 2005; her granddaughter, Amy Loomis; and her brother, Terry Shaffer.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist Church, Shaw Avenue, Niles, where friends may call one hour before the service. The Rev. John Preusser, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Matt Lowe of Grace Fellowship Church will be officiating. Burial will be at Kerr Cemetery.
