WARREN - An Andover woman and a Youngstown man were both killed in separate traffic crashes in Trumbull County - one in Johnston and another in Hartford.
Alisha E. Miranda, 23, of Andover, was pronounced dead about 1:30 a.m. today on state Route 5 just east of the split with state Route 88 in Johnston Township.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said Miranda was eastbound and failed to negotiate a curve at the split, striking a tree.
Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Jester surveys the scene of a fatal accident early this morning on state Route 5 in Johnston. The driver, Alisha E. Miranda, 23, of Andover, died in the crash. Jester is a member of the patrol's crash reconstruction Unit.
Miranda's 2004 Dodge Neon and the tree both were engulfed in flames in the crash.
Meanwhile, Timothy J. Webb, 61, of Youngstown, died at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after being transported from St. Joseph Health Center in Warren following the Hartford Township crash about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Troopers said Webb was southbound on Warner Road when a Trumbull Sheriff's deputy saw him go left of center. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, which continued south, failing to stop at the intersection with state Route 305. Webb's 1990 Geo Prism hit a guardrail and rolled down an embankment, troopers said.
Webb was not wearing a seat belt, and troopers said alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
