DEAR EDITOR:
Why would someone take a wind chime out of the ground that was placed there for a Marine who passed away?
My father, Denny Bechtold, passed away June of last year. He was a remarkable father. He gave so much of himself to others. He was (one ) of the Santa Clauses at the Eastwood Mall. When he wasn't at the mall he was in hospitals and retirement homes giving out hugs and candy canes.
He admitted to stealing the bandit from the doughboy in downtown Warren in the 1950s and wanted to make it right. He worked to help others with their personal problems. He was the one who was taking radiation and chemotherapy for his throat cancer and was trying to cheer up the patient next to him.
So, once again I ask who has the right to take a simple, but precious Marine wind chime from his place of rest? I would like the person or persons who took the wind chime to return it, with the shepherd's hook back to Crown Hill in Vienna. One thing my father loved was listening to wind chimes and his love for the Marines.
