Churches plan Halloween events

CHURCHES HOST TRUNK-OR-TREAT EVENTS: Local churches will be providing Halloween fun for local children with trunk-or-treat. Events will include games, candy and other activities. First Baptist Church, 26 E. Church St., Niles, will hold their event from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Parking is provided in Ciminero's parking lot next door. Champion Baptist Church, 556 Center St. West, will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Johnston Federated United Methodist Church, 6262 Youngstown Kingsville Road, Farmdale, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Chestnut Ridge Church of God, 7215 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m Wednesday. Champion Presbyterian Church, Mahoning Avenue, will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. There will be hay wagon rides and a petting zoo. Children should bring a bag and be accompanied by an adult.

MISSION HOLDS PARTY: The Warren Family Mission, 361 Elm Road, will hold a harvest party from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday for children up to age 13. There will be games, activities, face painting and a light meal. Non-scary costumes are encouraged.

FUNDRAISER SET AT PONDEROSA: Weeping Willow German Shepherd Sanctuary and TNR of Warren will hold a fundraiser and children's event from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Ponderosa Steakhouse, Elm Road, Warren. Children's activities will be held, and proceeds from the event will help to feed animals.

HALLOWEEN ALTERNATIVE: The Mahoning Valley Hope Center will host a Lite of Hope Halloween alternative from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the center, 3227 Surrey Road S.E., Warren.

SAFETY DAY FOR CHILDREN: Stonegate Apartments in Warren will hold a safety day for children from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event will include fire department, MedStar, Trumbull County Sheriff and other safety and rescue vehicles.

FOUNDATION HOLDS EVENT: Kayla Irene Daniels Cure for Cancer Foundation will hold a trunk-or-treat candy giveaway from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The event is free to the public. There will be a costume contest and prizes and food in the town hall. Those wanting to pass out candy can call the Kid Cancer Foundation at 330-889-9600.
