Youngstown-Warren area has lowest pay in Forbes report

Locals complaining that they don't earn enough now have statistics to back up their dissatisfaction.

According to a late November Forbes report, the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman area is the worst-paying city in the country.

Here, college-educated employees make $45,400 on average while mid-career professionals average $60,400. Forbes attributed the low wages to an inability to recover from the hard hits of recent recessions.

Workers in McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, Texas, can commiserate coming in second to last with a median pay of $45,600.

On the other side of the country, San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, Calif., are sitting pretty at the top of the list with a median pay of $93,100 followed by the San Fancisco-Oakland-Fremont, Calif., area at $73,500.
