Salvation Army seeks donations

SALVATION ARMY SEEKS DONATIONS: The Trumbull County Salvation Army, 270 Franklin St., is planning its annual Christmas toy distribution and is in need of donations of new toys. Items can be dropped off through Monday. For information call 330-392-1573.

LIBRARY CHANGES NUMBER: Cortland Library Branch, 578 Lakeview Drive, has a new telephone number. Effective immediately, call 330-299-8120 to reach the library. The new number replaces 330-638-6335 which will work until January.

BLOCK WATCH TO MEET: The Hubbard Community Block Watch will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St.

BAND SETS PERFORMANCES: The Cortland Community Band will hold holiday season performances at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Howland Scope Center, 3 p.m. Sunday at the Eastwood Mall, Niles, and 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at Park Vista in Youngstown.

RIVALRY TO HELP MISSION: The second annual Rivals for a Cause fundraiser between Bristol and Southington schools will be held Friday at the Bristol High School gymnasium. There will be a dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. at $6 per person followed by the basketball game. Those bringing a toy valued at $5 or more to help the Warren Family Mission will receive a free ticket for a future Bristol home game.

LEAP PLANS PARTY: The annual Learning Enrichment Active Program's Christmas party will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Brookfield Fire Department, state Route 7. The event is for special-needs young adults. Those attending are asked to call Ann at 330-448-1156.

GIFT WRAPPING HELPS SENIORS: Be a Santa to a Senior holiday gift wrapping event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Home Instead Senior Care, 45 N. Canfield Niles Road, Suite 600, Austintown. Community volunteers will wrap hundreds of holiday gifts collected for area seniors in need. Volunteers will deliver the gifts to area seniors who otherwise might be overlooked this holiday season.
