Debra L. McDanel 1950-2012

HOWLAND - Debra L. McDanel, 53, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.

She was born July 17, 1959, in Youngstown, the daughter of Eugene and Mildred M. May Hale, and had lived in Mahoning and Trumbull counties all her life.

A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and the Youngstown State University School of Nursing, Debra worked as senior regional nurse manager for MVI Home Care. A former president of the union for Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital, she also belonged to the Ohio Nurses Association. She was fond of entertaining, cooking, traveling (especially her trips to Ocean City), gardening, animals and wildlife.

Surviving are her husband, Kalin McDanel, whom she married July 7, 2007; two sons, Adam Christopher (Kristen) Baran of West Carrollton and Matthew James (Gina Campbell) Hale of Chicago; a grandson, Hunter Z. Baran; a brother, James (Lori) Hale of Rogers; and her pets, Dodger, Bandit and Angus.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Roberts-Clark Chapel, Lane Family Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Keith Easton of Champion Baptist Church officiating. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
