YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown State University president and Trumbull County native Cynthia Anderson will retire July 1, the school announced.
In 2010, Anderson became the first woman, first YSU graduate and first Mahoning Valley native to become the university's president.
Anderson grew up in Fowler.
Her affiliation with the university began 32 years ago as a student. She earned a bachelor of science degree in business education with a minor in education in 1973.
During her academic career, she has held a number of positions at the university and has served as vice president for student affairs from 1995 to 2010.
