WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS -It was a fight to the finish, but the Radiers were unable to get the win on Friday night against Warrensville Heights, 62-58.
With 54 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Harding's Anthony Bell sank two free throws to tie the game at 56. Warrensville Heights' Yavari Paul nailed back-to-back clutch buckets that helped close the game for the Tigers.
Anthony Bell and Gregory Jackson both scored 18 for Harding, including four 3-pointers made by Jackson. Osha Jackson chipped in 12 points for the Raiders.
Warrensville Heights scoring attack was led by Martell Goodwin, who scored 14 points for the Tigers. Jermaine Brown had a double-double for the Tigers, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Harding (4-2) looks to rebound as it hosts Niles Dec. 29.
MAPLEWOOD 58, BROOKFIELD 52: MECCA - The Warriors led most of the game, but the Rockets chipped away and handed Brookfield its first loss of the season.
Brookfield had the early 9-0 lead and held the lead until the final few minutes of the game. The Rockets stayed in it the entire time, not letting Brookfield get up by too many.
The Rockets made their push in the fourth quarter, outscoring Brookfield 20-11.
Brookfield was led by Jimmy Quinlan's 13 points. Ryan Mosora had 12.
Kevin Jones paced Maplewood (4-4) with 22 points.
NILES 78, BEAVER LOCAL 66: LISBON - The matchup between Niles and Beaver Local was a matter of big runs in the third and fourth, with Niles pulling away in the end.
Down by five points at the half, Beaver Local outscored Niles 22-9 in the third quarter to take a 57-49 lead.
Niles used a giant fourth quarter by outscoring Beaver Local 31-11 to seal the victory for the Dragons.
Ray Russ dropped 21 points for Niles and James Tate added 19 points, hitting four 3s.
Troy Hudson was hot from the floor, scoring 23 points for Beaver Local. Jared Lyder added 21 points for the Beavers.
WINDHAM 76, EAST CANTON 48: CANTON - Windham used an 18-2 first quarter to jump on top of East Canton early and never looked back in the conference win.
With the win, the Bombers remain perfect at 7-0 and 4-0 in the Portage Trial Conference.
Parker Rickey led all scorers for Windham as he scored 18 points. Matt Knight added 17 points for the Bombers and Cameron Pozsgai had 14 points.
Windham looks to remain undefeated as they play in the Hiland High School First Federal Holiday Showcase Dec. 27.
BADGER 59, SOUTHINGTON 51: KINSMAN -Colton Kellogg was the man with the hot hand for Badger as he scored 18 points for the Braves, making two 3-pointers.
Matt Kraml scored 17 points for Badger and Brandon Bates added 14.
Southington fell short despite an outstanding performance from Jacob Zolna, as he scored 26 points, nailing 6 from behind the arc. Eric Wilson poured in 13 for the Wildcats.
JACKSON 55, BOARDMAN 42: BOARDMAN - Down by four after the first quarter, Jackson got hot in the second quarter, outscoring Boardman 18-6.
Pugh led the charge offensively for Jackson, scoring 14 points. Dillon added 13 and Bailey added 10 for the Polar Bears.
Sam Mathy led Boardman with 14 points. The Spartans look to rebound from the loss as they play at home next Friday against Cardinal Mooney.
CANFIELD 57, FITCH 42: CANFIELD - Canfield led by 11 points after the first quarter and went on to get the league victory over Fitch.
Fitch struggled to stop Canfield's Cole Pryjma, who scored 16 points and sank three 3-pointers.
Jarett Vrabel added 10 points for the Cardinals. Alex Disrancesco was the premiere scorer for Fitch with 14 points, while Curtis Beverely added 13 points for the Falcons.
Canfield (5-1) seeks another win as it faces Howland on the road next Friday. Fitch looks to recover as it host Poland next Friday.
NEWTON FALLS 69, CHAMPION 26: CHAMPION - The Tigers drained seven 3-pointers and held Champion at bay throughout the game, getting the All-American Conference, National Division, victory.
Newton Falls jumped to a 14-8 lead after the first quarter, which was extended to 30-19 at the half. Champion was held to one point in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers were led by Dale Kernen's 15 points. Jaden Walton had 11. Newton Falls is now 2-4 on the season.
Tyler Bishop led Champion (1-5) with 13 points.
McDONALD 100, LEETONIA 62: McDONALD - McDonald didn't score a point in the last three minutes of the first quarter but still put up 100 points against Leetonia in an Inter Tri-County League, Lower Tier, contest.
McDonald had the lead, 28-22, after the first quarter and extended its lead to 56-38 at the half. The Blue Devils held the Bears (2-6) to seven points in the fourth.
Six players scored in double digits for McDonald (7-0). Matt Seitz led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Stephen Politano (15), Christian Rusinowski (12), Jake Reckard (10), Tyler Smith (12) and Kenny Greaver (13).
LaBRAE 91, CAMPBELL 29: LEAVITTSBURG - Six players scored in double figures and LaBrae held Campbell to nine field goals in its All-American Conference, National Division, victory.
The Vikings had the 21-2 lead after the first quarter, LaBrae pushed the lead to 32 points by halftime.
D.J. Harrison led Campbell with nine points.
Peyton Aldridge led all scorers with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Carl Brown (12), John Richards (13), Kenny Hall (10), Marcell Richardson (12) and Chris Clevenger (13) all reached double figures for the Vikings.
Next for LaBrae is the rivalry game, as it travels to Newton Falls on Dec. 28.
