Marilyn K. Liber 1948-2012

NEWTON FALLS - Marilyn Kay Liber 64, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Marilyn was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Warren, the daughter of Merrill Hobert and Frances Marilyn Gintert Spahlinger.

She grew up in Braceville and graduated from Braceville High School. Marilyn furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Education degree from Kent State University. She also earned two Master of Education degrees, one in administration and one in curriculum and instruction.

She married her loving husband, Loyd Wayne Liber, Sept. 7, 1968, and together they had two children, Christanne and Jeffrey. Marilyn worked for the Newton Falls school district for 40 years, teaching at the elementary level and then later teaching fifth-grade science and language arts, before becoming the principal of the Newton Falls Middle School. Through her love for teaching and her love of her students, Marilyn left a lasting impression on the lives of many.

She was a member of Newton Falls United Methodist Church and the Newton Falls Bicentennial Committee. Marilyn enjoyed quilting, traveling, reading, music, sports and coaching volleyball, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Memories of Marilyn will be carried on by her husband of Newton Falls; her parents of Lake Milton; her daughter, Christanne (Keith) Boone of Newton Falls; her son, Jeffrey (Christy) Liber of Newton Falls; two brothers, Ronald (Barbara) Spahlinger of Mabank, Texas, and Richard (Rita) Spahlinger of Lake Milton; a sister-in-law, Billie (Keith) Frederick of Dade City, Fla.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Boone; and three grandsons, Alan Boone, and Jacob and Luke Liber.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Newton Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Newton Falls Cemetery.
