KINSMAN - Renee Amber "Mother Hen" Pitts, 61, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2013, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
She was born Sept. 14, 1951, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Richard Vaughn and the late Betty Jane Matthews Vaughn.
Renee was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church in Cortland and had worked most of her life as a homemaker.

It was in her nature to care for others. She was a very selfless person who had a big heart. It was that characteristic that earned her the nickname "Mother Hen."
Renee was a Lady of the Viet Nam Vets M/C and enjoyed all types of crafts. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband, Bill "Punji" Pitts, whom she married July 15, 1978; a daughter, Cheri Pitts of Warren; three brothers, Richard Vaughn of Warren, Kenneth Vaughn of Freedom and James Oscar Vaughn of Warren; and by two sisters, Terry Pritt of West Salem and Lisa Green of Cortland. Also surviving is her grandson, John Pitts of Warren.
Renee was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Pitts.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Army Navy Garrison 244, 418 Mason St., Niles, to share in a time of food and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
