CONNEAUT Anthony J. West, 28, of Youngstown, accused of injuring a Conneaut police officer while fleeing custody last week, was bound over to the Ashtabula County grand jury, the Star Beacon newspaper reported this morning.
West is charged with assault of a police officer, a fourth-degree felony, and remains in jail in lieu of bond, according to court records.
Meanwhile, a Jan. 29 trial date was set for West on three misdemeanor charges: Obstructing justice, resisting arrest and obstructing official business, the spokeswoman said.
On Oct. 7, police investigating a group of men suspected of throwing contraband into the Lake Erie Correctional Institution attempted to stop them. West pushed an officer and fled. He was later apprehended.
