YOUNGSTOWN - The Mahoning County Coroner's Office has identified one of the victims of the early Sunday morning fatal fire in North Jackson as 75-year-old Audrey L. Lundsford.
The identity of the second victim, believed to be Jeffrey Todd Davenport, Lundsford's adult son, cannot be confirmed until dental analysis is completed, according to a news release issued by the coroner's office on Tuesday. Until then, the coroner's office has listed him as a "John Doe."
The dental analysis was scheduled to be performed today by Dr. Robert Johnson.
Coroner David M. Kennedy reported that Davenport's remains, which were badly burned, suggest smoke inhalation as the cause of death, and that no trauma was found on his body. Toxicology results are pending.
An autopsy on Lundsford was to be performed today. The coroner's office reported her remains showed no evidence of trauma.
Jackson Township fire crews were called to the home on North Duck Creek Road near Silica Road shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.
A dog and a parakeet also died in the fire.
Officials said the blaze started in a corner of the garage and then spread to the rest of the house, but investigators have not yet determined a cause. They said that they did not find any working smoke detectors at the residence.
