Howland High School assistant football coach Dominic Menendez will be honored at this month's annual Ohio High School Football Coaches Association clinic Friday in Columbus. Menendez will be honored by his peers as the top assistant coach.

Menendez has been an assistant at Howland and on coach Dick Angle's staff for their 14-year tenure with the Tigers.

"Having Coach Menendez on our staff is like having an extra head coach," Angle said. "Dom has been involved with all critical decisions. He is an excellent leader, an outstanding football coach and a compassionate teacher. Manny makes my job easy."

Menendez has played a major role in Howland's rise to power. The Tigers have won eight straight conference championships and have appeared in 10 Ohio High School Athletic Association state playoffs.
