PROJECT TO HELP OTHERS: The Kaleb Owens Cares Project is in honor of a Lakeview High School student who suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling off a hayride in October 2005.
The family is collecting items to make care baskets for the children at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Rehab Center, to be given to patients and families of children who are on the road to recovery. The project will run through March 1 with items mailed or delivered for Kaleb Cares 4 U, c/o Amy Stockton, 110 Stonewood Drive, Cortland 44410.
Items can be dropped off at any Lakeview school building, Fire Foe Corp. or Farmer Jim's Indoor Soccer Complex. Monetary donations can be made at any Cortland Bank. Make checks payable to Community and Friends of Kaleb Owens Foundation.
VALENTINE'S DANCE SET: A Valentine's Day dance and social hour for teens ages 14 to 20 will be held from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren CLW, 2460 Elm Road, Suite 400, Warren. The event will include music, games and food. Parental sign-in is required. Parents are welcome for coffee and discussion of any programs and about scholarships for students with disabilities. ASSOCIATION OFFERS ID PROGRAM: The Garfield Neighborhood Association is taking part in "Operation Identification" to help residents keep their property.
The program is made possible through a Wean Success Grant and allows for participating in crime prevention and stolen property recovery programs. Participants can borrow an engraving tool to mark valuables.

ARTIFACTS ON DISPLAY: Various items found at Buhl Farm Park's Lake Julia when it was drained - such identification bracelets, tokens, hubcaps and ice skating tokens - are on display from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at Buhl Timblin Casino.
When the lake was frozen, ice skating was popular in the early part of the 20th century. Trumbull County Metal Detectors Club from Cortland searched for artifacts at the site when the Hermitage lake was drained and dredged.
SOCIAL PLANNED FOR VALENTINE'S DAY: The Valentine's Day Social for the Boye Family will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Opera House, 152 North Park Ave., Cortland. All proceeds from the event help Sara and Chad Boye, parents of Jaxon Boye, who was born with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare skin condition that can range from mild to lethal and does not have a cure.
