Charles A. Thompson 1925-2013

WARREN - Charles A. Thompson, 87, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Leavittsburg, the son of the late Dwight H. Thompson and the late Beatrice Grove Thompson.

He married Sara Speaker on Aug. 20, 1946.

He was a longtime employee of Republic Steel, retiring at age 62 after 43 years of service, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

Charles enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sara A. Speaker Thompson of Warren; daughters, Sara (Jack) McMillin of Roaming Shores and Lois Taylor of Travelers Rest, S.C.; sons, Edward (Sally) Thompson of Keymar, Md., and Robert "Lee" Thompson of Warren; sisters, Helen Shand, Leah Clinefelter and Anna Yerkes; brother, Donald Thompson; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Thompson; and a son-in-law, Bradley Taylor.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor William Sprague will officiate. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park, Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the American Heart Association-Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O. Box 182039, Dept. 013, Columbus, OH 43218, in his memory.
