GIRARD - Bond has been set at $1 million for a man accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint Thursday night at an ATM in Liberty.

Denzel Searcy, 18, 407 Bell Ave., New Castle, Pa., remains at the Trumbull County Jail. He was arraigned Friday in Girard Municipal Court and is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Police arrested Searcy and Edthaniel Tarver, 17, 552 Sycamore, Campbell, late Thursday night. Tarver was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.

Liberty police Chief Richard Tisone said the pair are suspected in approximately nine ATM robberies that have taken place in Campbell, Youngstown and Liberty.

According to police, the two approached a woman's vehicle shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday as she was getting money from the ATM, stuck a weapon in her face and demanded cash.

The woman's child was in the rear seat of the vehicle.

The victim called the police, telling them that the two males left in a dark-colored vehicle.

Liberty police K9 officer Raymond Buhala spotted a black 2000 Ford Taurus while on patrol on Colonial Drive. He stopped the vehicle. Other officers soon arrived.

Searcy attempted to flee on foot but was captured shortly afterward.

The two were charged with aggravated robbery, obstructing official business and endangering children.

Searcy also was charged with resisting arrest.
