YOUNGSTOWN - Tom Hill, northeast region director for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, explained to Mahoning County commissioners this morning the inspection process on an injection well on Blott Road in North Jackson. Hill was asked to speak by commissioners after a group of residents said they were concerned about a broken casing at the well in October that they say ODNR never notified anyone about.
Hill said the casing broke close to the ground during a state mandated test and officials with CNX, which drills the well, shut it down and notified ODNR.
Operations were not allowed to continue until repairs were made and ODNR approved them, Hill said.
At no time was the local water supply in danger, Hill said.
Several residents were upset they were not allowed to speak. Commissioner Chairwoman Rimedio-Righetti told them to submit their questioned in writing to ODNR and they would receive their answers and make those answers public.
