LEXINGTON, S.C. - Joanne Zucco DeFilippis, 92, formerly of Niles, passed away at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013.
She was born, in Reggio Calabria, Italy, Aug. 29, 1920, the daughter of Antonio and Mary Zucco.
She came to the United States in 1938 and settled in Kane, Pa., where she met and married her husband, Arthur DeFilippis, Sept. 17, 1940.

She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She cherished the time spent with her family and celebrated the joy they gave her in return.
Joanne is survived by a son, Pete (Carol) Defilippis of South Carolina; daughter, Mary (Jerry) Fonce of Niles; five grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine (Jim) Cameneti of Warren and Angie Pellegrino of Warren, Pa.; brother, Tony (Carol) Zucco of Niles;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 15, 1970; brother, Joe Zucco; sister, Theresa Juliano; and twin grandchildren, Jerry and Sherry Fonce.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The service of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Kraszewski.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
