LaBrae's road to the school's first state basketball title fell short on Thursday as the Vikings lost, 64-52, to Versailles in a Division III state semifinal. "It was a tale of two halves," LaBrae coach Chad Kiser said. In the first half, the teams traded baskets before LaBrae was able to take a 37-33 lead into halftime. However, the second half was another story. The Tigers came out with a stifling defense.

Leading LaBrae was two-time All-Ohio first team player Peyton Aldridge with 23 points and nine rebounds. The Vikings were the first Trumbull County school to advance to the state tournament since Warren G. Harding advanced in 2009. They were only the 15th team in Trumbull County history to advance to Columbus.
