RIBBON-CUTTING SET AT PARK: The Thomas A. Swift MetroPark ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the park, 870 Benedict Leavittsburg Road, Leavittsburg. The Trumbull MetroParks will celebrate the grand opening of the newly installed walking trail that is being dedicated in memory of Ethan Swift, son of Trumbull County Probate Judge Thomas Swift. The half-mile trail is made from mulch. The trail will also include an arboretum, a collection of trees along the the length of the trail.
CAR WASH TO HELP CENTER: The Hope Academy for Autism School, 1628 Niles Road S.E., Warren, will hold a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with proceeds to help raise funds for special playground equipment for those with autism.
GROUPS TO HOLD BIKE RODEO: Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and St. Paul Lutheran Church are hosting the second annual Bike Rodeo from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the parking lot of St. Paul Lutheran Church, corner of East Market and Central Parkway, Warren.
The family-oriented event with collaboration from local law enforcement and children's health officials teaches road rules as well as bike and helmet safety. Youth will be able to navigate on a bike obstacle course. Parents must remain with children.

SAFETY RIDE RAISES AWARENESS: The Northcoast Motorcycle Safety Ride will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harley-Davidson Bike Town, 5700 Interstate Blvd., Austintown. The 100-mile ride will end at Cortland Moose Lodge, 6400 state Route 46 N.E.
The event will include a blessing of the bikes and food. Registration is from 10 to 11 a.m. For information, call 216-387-9392.
APPOINTMENT MADE: Beatitude House's Board of Directors has has appointed Sister Janet Gardner as the organization's new executive director. She will officially join the staff in June.
Prior to coming to Beatitude House, Gardner served as general minister for the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God where she oversaw and coordinated ministries in 22 locations. Her background is in transitional and supportive housing programs and direct service and administration.
