POLISH HERITAGE CELEBRATION: The fifth annual Polish Heritage Days celebration will be held Friday to Aug 25 at Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Polish Days celebrates all things Polish and will feature Polish food, two polka bands, folk art vendors, Polish language, cultural workshops, pirogi-eating contest, a marketplace, Mr. PierogGuy Competition, and performances by Living Traditions Folk Ensemble. A pirogi party will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Polish Day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 25.

MYCAP HONORS YOUTH: The Mahoning Valley College Access Program recently awarded 25 $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from the Mahoning Valley. Since 2002, MVCAP has awarded scholarships to more than 400 students from Mahoning Valley Schools.
MVCAP serves Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, East and Chaney High Schools in Youngstown, and the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center.
AUCTION SET FOR SCHOOL: Byce Auction and Realty has entered into a contract with the Diocese of Youngstown and St. Angela Merici Parish to sell the former Immaculate Conception properties at noon on Saturday. The properties on Oak Street consist of an approximately 31,000-square-foot school / administrative building, as well as the original Immaculate Conception church and adjoining rectory.
By order of the Bishop, the diocese has arranged for the removal of certain stained glass windows and statuary, as well as the historical bell. These items will be retained by the diocese as part of the rich history of the properties and plans for the re-commission of these items are under way.

SPAY CLINICS FOR CATS: TNR of Warren, a local nonprofit cat rescue, will hold two more spay-neuter clinics for cats on Saturday and Aug. 25 at Tractor Supply in Warren.
The clinics provide programs for stray and feral cats, along with a low-income program, a "show-me-the-mommy program" for mother cats with kittens, and a barn cat program.
