WARREN - A Trumbull County sheriff's deputy is suing his boss, claiming he is overdue for a promotion to sergeant.
Deputy Richard Tackett, a former detective with more than 20 years on the department, filed the action Wednesday against Sheriff Thomas Altiere, seeking an order from a judge to hold a promotional exam for the sergeant's position.
Tackett says in the suit he has already been working in the capacity of a supervisory sergeant.
Altiere declined comment on the suit since he hadn't been served with the paperwork. He did say Tackett is an asset to the department, a "good officer" and would make a great sergeant.
The case has been assigned to Common Pleas Judge Andrew Logan.
