JEFFERSON -- John Drummond Jr., of Youngstown tortured an executed Ronald ``Maceo'' Hull of Ashtabula, according to Associated Assistant Attorney General Brian S. Deckert.
Drummond's murder trial began Thursday in Ashtabula County Common Pleas court. The 36-year-old is charged with two counts of aggravated murder and kidnapping in the death of Hull in 1997 because, prosecutors say, Drummond believed Hull stole $10,000 from a friend.
Five other -- Troy Jones, Jawann Evans, Eric Weaver, George Church and Stephen Boles -- already pleaded guilty to kidnapping. Their murder charges were dropped in exchange for testimony against Drummond.
Hull was beaten, pistol-whipped and shot four times.
