GARRETTSVILLE - Thelma Paul, 94, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.
She was born in 1919, the daughter of Claude B. and Hazel S. McManus.
She graduated from Windham High School in 1937 and attended Warren Business College. She worked at Polson Rubber Co., Sky Lane Bowling Lanes and Cantell's Gift Shop.
Thelma was a member of United Methodist Church in Garrettsville. She loved to bowl, sew and do crafts. She was a 4-H leader for many years and a member of the Garrettsville Eastern Stars.
She spent her winters in Port Orange, Fla., and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her happiest days were when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit.
In her quilting days, she made each grandchild a quilt. She was a great baker and always tried to prepare a grandchild's favorite meal.
Survivors include her daughter, Roetta Moore of Garrettsville; daughter-in-law, Peggy Paul of Garrettsville; brother, Larry (Faye) McManus of Warren; sister-in-law, Sharon McManus of Holland, Mich.; and special friends, Mary Paul of Garrettsville and Lu Ann Knost of North Carolina. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Paul, whom she married June 28, 1939; sons, Sonny, Don and Eddie, all of Garrettsville; and son-in-law, Don Moore of Garrettsville; sisters, Elaine Freed of Dayton, Wanda Hill of Newton Falls; brothers, Dr. Thomas McManus of Bowling Green, Claude McManus of Windham; and sister-in-law, Flossie McManus of Windham.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to all her caregivers.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Burial will be at Windham Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thelma's name to the United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave., Garrettsville, OH 44231, or Grace Hospice, 7206 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
