HOWLAND - Philip A. Crish, 72, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 25, 1941, in Niles, the son of Angelo and Angie Tauro Crish.
He was a 1959 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a 1966 graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in civil engineering.
Philip was a certified professional engineer. He worked as a district construction engineer for The Ohio Department of Transportation for 45 years, retiring in 2011.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles. He enjoyed coaching Niles Little League baseball for many years, golfing and wintering in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and Ohio State fan.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Susan Ellwood Crish, whom he married Sept. 10, 1966; a son, John (Kathy) Crish of Alliance; a daughter, Joanne (Sean) O'Dell of Sagamore Hills; a brother, David (Kathy) Crish of Niles; a sister, Maria (Walter) McGaha of Greenville, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Philip O'Dell and Nicholas O' Dell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, where the Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 5 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, with the Rev. Frederick Trucksis officiating, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
