About a week after a Cleveland man convicted of kidnap and rape was found hanged while in the custody of the Ohio prison system, authorities are investigating the suspicious death early today of a Warren man convicted of raping a young boy in 2005.
James Blackburn, 31, was found dead at 2:09 a.m. in his cell at the Lebanon Correctional Institution in Lebanon.
According to a spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Corrections, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances of Blackburn's death.
A coroner is expected to rule on the cause of death in the possible suicide later this week.
Blackburn, formerly of South Federlee Street, was arrested in February 2006 on three counts of rape. He was accused of sexually assaulting the 8-year-old son of his girlfriend.
