WARREN - Mamie L. (Granny) Simmons, 75, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at University Hospitals in Cleveland.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1938, in Slatty Fork, W.Va., the daughter of Forrest Austin Andrew and Laura Mary McCloud Galford.
Mamie married the love of her life, Glen W. Simmons, on Oct 5., 1954, and they enjoyed 29 years of marriage together before he passed away on Dec. 23, 1985.
She has lived in Warren since 1969, formerly of Valley Head, W.Va.
Mamie loved crocheting, and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was willing to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glen; one daughter, Joyce Simmons; four brothers, Merritt, Oakie, Lacy and Kenneth Galford.
Memories of Mamie will be carried on by one daughter, Donna (Gerald) Mulroy of Newton Falls; three sons, Charles (Barb) Simmons of Leavittsburg, Bobbie (Audrey) Simmons of Warren and David Simmons of Warren; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Nail and Rev. Kenneth Dodrill officiating.
Mamie will be laid to rest beside her husband Glen in Lordstown Cemetery.
