FARMDALE - Harrell R. Starkey, 60, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at his home after battling lung cancer.
He was born Feb. 8, 1953, in Greensburg, Pa., the son of Oddie H. and Elizabeth Whitehair Starkey.
Harrell was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and had attended Johnston Federated Church.
He retired from Packard Electric in 2007 after 30-plus years of service as a die setter.
He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Cortland Moose Club, but he really enjoyed riding his Harley. He loved motorcycles.
Mr. Starkey was also an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, serving during peacetime.
Survivors include his wife, the former Becky Bland, whom he married on July 7, 2007; his children, Jaymee (Jordan) Davis of Cardiff by the Sea, Calif., Jacob Starkey of Melbourne, Fla., and Samantha Starkey of Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Amelia Davis and Eden Rae Davis.
Also surviving are his siblings, Jeffrey L. (Susan) Starkey of Champion, Franklin B. (Nancy) Starkey of Liberty, Michael A. (Lisa) Starkey of Mineral Ridge, and Elizabeth Ann (Edward) Champion of Lehigh Acres, Fla.
Other than his parents, Harrell was preceded in death by his brother, Richard L. Starkey.
There will not be any services or calling hours, cremation will take place and his cremated remains will be laid to rest, privately, in the Johnston Township Cemetery.
Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, Cortland.
