WARREN -- A man convicted of stabbing to death a city resident he stayed with periodically was sentenced today to life in prison without the chance of parole.
Richard Clark, described by police as a somewhat homeless man, said nothing in court today as Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice handed down his sentence.
Rice had the option to grant Clark the possibility of parole after 20, 25 or 30 years but opted not to go that route. The judge also levied an additional 10 years, to be served consecutively, against Clark for robbing 49-year-old Dwayne Hickman, who died from multiple stab wounds at his Williamsburg Street N.W. home.
It took a jury less than two hours to return with the verdict against Clark, who was charged with aggravated murder days after police discovered Hickman's body inside his home after a relative asked them to check on the disabled man.
