WARREN - William R. "Yogi" Yauger, 74, of Warren, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 16, 1939, in Brownsville, Pa., the son of the late Harold E. and Marie Agnes Donges Yauger Sr.
William worked in the security department at Thomas Steel Strip for more than 30 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Ali Baba Grotto, Army Navy Garrison, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 3201, American Legion Post 164, and the Grand Lodge of F&AM of Ohio and Cortland Lodge 529. William was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan and also enjoyed golfing.
Loving memories of William will be cherished by his wife, Mary Beach Yauger of Warren; three daughters, Sharon Fairburn of Niles, Marie (John) White of Kinsman and Teresa Yauger of Warren; a brother, Jim (Dee) Yauger of Niles; sisters Cheryl Racco of Aurora and Diane (Mark) Bumstead of Cortland; grandsons Tom and Shane Fairburn, who shared a special bond with their "Pop" and stood by his side during his struggle with cancer, Joseph Yauger, Thomas Erwin, William Erwin and Matthew Fennell; and great-grandsons Aiden Yauger and Bryce Yauger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold E. Yauger Jr., Donald L. Yauger, Arthur A. Yauger and Harry E. Yauger; and sisters Doris E. Visnich, Lois B. Berger and Judy R. Hipkins.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m Monday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor David Vensel will officiate. Family and friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
William will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
