SOUTHINGTON -- A Tuesday morning crash involving a semi truck sent two people to an area hospital with minor injuries and delayed westbound traffic for several hours along Route 422.
The Ohio State Patrol, which is investigating the crash, reported that the truck was traveling west in the left lane of Route 422 around 6:28 a.m. when it went off the left side of the road into the median, hit a ditch and signpost before the trailer overturned spilling approximately 65 gallons of diesel fuel.
The driver, Brian Edwards, 48, of Girard, and his passenger, Tammy Guyette, 46, of Vienna, were transported to St. Joseph Health Center. Troopers said Edwards was cited on failure to control and seatbelt violations.
The left lanes of US 422 were closed at State Route 534 for approximately 3-1/2 hours.
The Ohio Department of Transportation, Trumbull County Hazmat and the Southington Fire Department were also on scene for clean-up.
