WARREN - Mildred "Millie" Laginya, 85, of Warren, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, 2013, at her home with her family at her side.
She was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Orient, Pa., the daughter of the late Mile and Mildred Tatalovich Gustovich.
Millie was a 1946 graduate of Redstone Township High School in Merrittstown, Pa., and moved to Warren in 1953.
She worked as a waitress in the Big Diamond Ballroom and as a cashier in the Pure Food Super Market in Republic, Pa.
She also worked in the lunch rooms for Warren City Schools, Delphi Packard Electric and retired from Kmart Corp.
Millie was a member of Blessed John Paul II parish (St. Pius X Church) and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was foremost a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and enjoyed family get-togethers. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. She enjoyed playing cards and listening to music.
Millie is survived by four children, Dr. Daniel Laginya of Boardman, Karen (Stuart) Dager of Cortland, Dale (Christine) Laginya and Gayle (Ross) Lenhart, both of Champion; eight grandchildren, Brian and Sgt. Scott Lenhart, Sara (Shane) Dager-Smith, Chad and Alex Dager, George (Kayla), Gina and Magdalene Laginya; one great-grandson, Zachary Smith; one sister, Mary Gustovich; and one brother, Mike (Betty) Gustovich, both of Warren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her husband, Matthew J. Laginya, whom she married Aug. 13, 1955, preceded her in death on April 15, 1994. Two brothers, Alex and Nick, and two sisters, Nellie and Martha Gustovich, have also preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Roberts Church in Cortland with the Rev. Carl Kish celebrating the Mass. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta Township.
