NILES - Donald D. Lamp, 97, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles.
Don was born Sept. 1, 1916, in East Liverpool to the late Ida J. Wilson and Andrew J. Lamp.
On Feb. 1, 1948, Don married the love of his life, Marian Ralston Lamp.
Don worked at Packard Electric as an artos cutter for 23 years, retiring in 1978. He also worked for the Howland school district as a bus driver.
Don was a member of the Howland Community Church, where he served as a deacon and was a choir member.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II. He was a member of the Vienna VFW and Car Barn Heathens in East Liverpool.
He was part of a small group of people to not only score one hole-in-one, but three. Don also played guitar and painted.
Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian Lamp; children, Dennis (Lois) Lamp of Cortland, Stephen Lamp (Lucas McCartney) of Niles, and Jill (Phil) Pegg of Vienna; daughter-in-law, Jenny Lamp of Warren; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Olive Allen of Niles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald B. Lamp; and daughter in law, Karen Lamp.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive, where services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Cynthia Klingemier officiating.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park following services with military honors.
