WARREN - A man was gunned down shortly after midnight Saturday morning at a southwest side gas station that has been the focus of concern by area residents.
The fatal shooting occurred at the Sunoco gas station, 805 W. Market St., according to Warren Safety Service Director Enzo Cantalamessa. He did not provide the victim's name or age, and a police spokesman did not return messages left seeking information.
According to information obtained by the Tribune Chronicle, Richard C. Rollison IV, 24, of Warren, died early Saturday morning and his death is being investigated by the Trumbull County Coroner's Office.
Cantalamessa said there has been no arrest in the shooting and a criminal investigation is ongoing, with investigators working to determine if there is video footage of the shooting at the gas station.
Councilwoman Helen Rucker, D-at large, on Saturday said she has told Warren police Chief Eric Merkel on at least three separate occasions that residents have expressed concern about fights and shootings around the gas station. She said large crowds of young people have been reported by residents fighting around the gas station on previous occasions.
Cantalamessa would not comment on whether there are connections between a shooting in a Warren Township bar around the same time and the the gas station shooting.
