GIRARD - Area special needs students from the tri-county area will enjoy the holiday spirit with the 13th annual Winterfest Dance to be held from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St., S.E.
Jeanne Constantino, a special education teacher at East High School and event coordinator, said the dance is open to all high school-aged students with special needs in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
She said the event is designed to give students a "fun-filled night" to experience socialization with their peers from other communities.
The event will start with dinner and then dancing.
"We are excited that this dance continues to be an annual tradition," Constantino said.
Constantino said a snow prince and princess will be crowned at the end of the dance. She said a drawing will take place for the dance court with the names to be drawn randomly from each school's tickets.
Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and elves are scheduled to make an appearance.
There is no cost for the dance, but those attending are asked to call 330-740-4005, ext. 4179 or fax 330-742-6464.
