RAILROADS TO BE SHOWCASED: The Youngstown Model Railroad Association will hold an open house from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at their club location, 751 N. Four Mile Run Road, Youngstown. The event will showcase model trains. A donation is requested, but children 11 and younger with an adult are free.
PETS TO GET PHOTOS WITH SANTA: Pet and children's photos with Santa will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Western Reserve Farm Cooperative, 312 S. Mecca St., Cortland. Proceeds from the photos will help less fortunate pets in Trumbull County. For information, call 330-637-4015.
TOYS NEEDED: The Warren Family Mission is in need of new, unwrapped toys for children from infants to age 16 for the upcoming Christmas toy giveaway. There will also be a Christmas meal. HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: The Hubbard Historical Society's McBride House, 27 Hager St., will be open from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday before and after the holiday parade. On display will be a collection of nutcrackers ranging in size from 10 inches to six feet. Nutcrackers were introduced in America by returning servicemen in 1945 after the end of World War II.
COLLECTING BLANKETS: Betty's Angels will collect blankets for children who are homeless in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. For information on donating, call 330-321-5604.
RESCUE GROUP SPONSORS FUNDRAISER: Legacy Dog Rescue will sponsor two pictures with Santa events from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Family Video in Austintown, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Pet Supplies Plus in Niles. To participate, dogs must be leashed at all times, up to date on vaccinations and handled by an adult. Proceeds will help Legacy Dog Rescue, a local nonprofit group, save dogs that have been abandoned, abused or neglected, and place them into loving homes.
CONCERT SET FOR HOLIDAY: Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel N.W., Warren, will have the Cortland Community Band Christmas concert at 7 p.m. today at fellowship hall. The event is free to the public. Dessert will be served to all in attendance following the concert.
