MCKINLEY CHRISTMAS: A William McKinley Christmas will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. There will be trolley rides to take people to different locations in Niles, which included the McKinley Birthplace Home, 40 S. Main St., the Ward Thomas House, 503 Brown St., and the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial and Museum, 40 N. Main St.
The event will highlight McKinley and his family at the holidays.
There will be ornament craft projects for children at the library and a visit from Santa Claus. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided by the Salvation Army Canteen at the McKinley Memorial Library parking lot. All events are free.
The library parking lot will not be open and library members are asked to park at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home across the street.
RAFFLE FOR HOLIDAYS: St. Luke Episcopal Church, 348 Robbins Ave., Niles, will hold a gift basket raffle and bake sale form 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds will help Community Outreach food pantry.
FOOD DRIVE AT CENTER: The Girard Emmanuel Center is holding a food drive through Sunday. Non-perishable items may be brought to the center, 2 N. State St., Girard.
CHRISTMAS PARTY: Girard Fraternal Order of Eagles 2172 will hold a Christmas party for children at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 for children ages infant to 12. Signups by Saturday. Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck.
HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: Howland Community Church, 198 Niles Cortland Road S.E., will hold a Christmas open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. There will be live music with Marian Mihas, a harpist, a live nativity, refreshments, and crafts for the kids.
BAZAAR PLANNED: The Girard Junior Women will present the annual Christmas Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the city gymnasium, West Main Street. The bazaar includes a baked goods sale, a gifts table, free games and a coloring contest. Santa arrives by firetruck at 11 a.m. and will visit with children and pose for photos until 1 p.m.
SUPPORT GROUP MEETS: Hillside Stroke Support Group will meet at 2:30 to 4 p.m. today at the board room at Hillside Rehabilitation Center. All stoke survivors and family members are welcome. The meeting will be for Christmas. Call Cindy at 330-841-3891.
POLISH CLUB WELCOMES HOLIDAY: The Polish Arts Club of Youngstown will host the annual "Wigilia, A Polish Christmas Celebration" from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Brier Hill Cultural Center, 145 Jefferson St., Youngstown. Wigilia means "vigil" or "waiting" for the birth of baby Jesus.
