WARREN - A recount in the race for Warren Township trustee was completed Thursday morning, but the vote totals did not change.
Robert Bush held on to his two-vote win over third-place finisher Phillip E. Fletcher, 293 to 291. Incumbent Trustee Kay Anderson won the other seat.
''We hand counted Warren Township Precinct E and that came out exactly what the official showed,'' said Kelly Pallante, director of the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
In a recount, Ohio law calls for 5 percent of all ballots cast in the race to be counted by hand. In this, 5 percent was 78 votes, and the least amount voted in the trustee race in each of the township's five precincts was 228, so no matter which precinct was randomly pulled ahead of the re-tally, the requirement was met.
Pallante said Fletcher was ''satisfied'' with the outcome of the hand count and did not have the process go further.
Messages for comment were left with Bush and Fletcher.
The race was the only one in Trumbull County that fell into the recount category after the elections board certified the results Nov. 25. A recount is triggered if the margin is less than one-half of 1 percent.
Unofficial returns from Election Day had the race between Bush and Fletcher for one of the two seats available tied at 291 votes of 18.8 percent. Of 10 provisional ballots, Bush picked up two more votes and Fletcher, zero.
